Ellsworth Kelly Interpreted in CSS

Ellsworth Kelly’s only building design at the Blanton Museum of Art at UT Austin reflects his vision for a “site of joy and contemplation”. Even lines, bright colors, and studies of light greet visitors to the permanent installation.

I visited “Austin” soon after its opening in 2017. It has been widely regarded as must-see experience for people in Austin. My interpretation highlights the simple forms depicted in and on the building. This is purely CSS and SVG. I put it right on the page as well. There is a lot of CSS transforming, pseudo-elements, and specialized sizing to ensure everything fits on all screens. The final pieces employ specific SVG calculations. I will perfect this and expand on it. Learn more about Ellsworth Kelly’s Austin at the Blanton’s website.
